Mr. Brainwash is a street artist and filmmaker known for his colorful, graffiti-inspired art. He gained widespread recognition after being featured in the 2010 Banksy-directed documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. His style often incorporates bold, vibrant colors, splatters, and pop-culture references. To celebrate Matchbox's 70th anniversary, Mr. Brainwash (Thierry Guetta) created a unique art installation using a life-size 1964 Austin Mini Cooper as his canvas. This colorful and graffiti-inspired design was displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum. In addition to the life-size version, Matchbox released a 1:64 scale model of this custom-painted Mini Cooper. This miniature version features vibrant graphics inspired by Mr. Brainwash's artwork and is a delightful collectible for fans.
Although the year is almost over we received last week the model we ordered (and paid) in November 2023. A delightful model with a great packaging! However looking at the availability of the models in most European Countries, the lead sentence on the (large) box could have been better: finding any Matchbox is an adventure....... Notwithstanding this it's a great model!

Matchbox has issued a series of 24 European models. Matchbox is using two different blisters for those series. One has the text GERMANY with in the background a picture of Berlin and the other called EUROPEAN STREET CARS. Models are packed as follows: German Blisters are numbered 1 until 6 and 13 to 18 European Street Cars are numbered 7 to 12 and 19 to 24 It looks whether all 24 models are re-issues but I have my doubts on the numbers 7 and 18. I need some more time to find out whether those 2 are really different. Meanwhile you can have a look to this part of the catalog by clicking to the link below. I also have heard some rumors that France has his own series. Apparently the are not part of Europe anymore..... I will try to find out whether there is a 2024 series.

In March the first series of Candy was found by Charlie in Krogers. They were almost identical to the series issued back in 2020. There are minor differences in the shades of paint. Except the ford GT. Compared to the 2022 Ford Model, Matchbox deleted GT the 2024 version (see picture). It is really a let down as they could have changed things around a little to make it more attractive especially to the variation collectors.
