We noticed more and more that a considerable change is made of the casting of a model. In the old days models were getting in most cases
a new Manufacturing number. We have experienced that Mattel stopped doing this for a number of models. And as many people collect Matchbox Models by manufacturing change within the same models. So far I adapted the software which is already a lot of work. It might be that here and there the picture for the second casting is not shown correctly (system shows the picture of the first casting). I still have to work out a solution for those cases. Together with W. van der Vis I will subsequently add within the catalog the changed castings of those models. But this may take some time as it take a lot of searching, updating files and updating the software. |
| I did not notice until recently and thanks to Christian de Lange, that in some cases Mattel has change on the baseplate the patent year with the old and the new year. It might help you in finding and cataloging the second casting models. | |

By the way if you ever asked yourself what this The meaning of that funny combination of letters and figures 
at the base plate, I will explain you.1186MJ is a zip code and 1 is the (unique) house number within this zip code. NL stands for Netherlands. In short it means Gondel 1, Amstelveen, The Netherlands. And this is the address of the (legal) European Head Quarter of Mattel. Don't phone them if you have any question on Matchbox because they don't have a clue. The background is that if a company is active on the European Market you need one address in Europe where everyone, living in a European country, can file a product complaint. Legally you need to do this within Europe on the packaging only. Why Mattel decided to do it on both the packaging and the product is a big question mark. |

| There will be two major chages in the actual catalog. The first one is the indication on which casting is the first within a new casting and which casting was the second casting change within the same casting. ` | |

In the left picture you see one change in the manufacturing number with the orange background. I have added the letter a behind the manufacturing number.
In this case meaning that the manufacturing number has more the one version. The letter a is always used for the first casting. In the right picture you noticed
a red background behind the manufacturing number, meaning
the first new casting within the same casting. I also added the letter b. If there are more then 2 different castings within the same number I will use c,d etc.
I follow with this system BAMCA in order to have some similarity between the sites. ` |

| Important We do not consider models with a small difference in the plastic as a second casting . Like a seat belt, left/right hand steering, a Golf chain Saw, box/cylinder behind the driver seat. Although I try in the first casting of a model to show those details. But only once. |
